The mad scientist helpful?

We materialized right next to Oleck in Brooklyn. Actually, we were on a boat. Oleck looked around quickly, and then back to us. He appeared to be carrying something, but whatever it was, it was hiding behind his tied hands. Then I realized what had happened, "they caught you?"
Oleck nodded.
"Trying to resuce your dad?" we spoke in hushed tones.
"My father? Yes,"
"So we fail."
"No, so far it's," he paused, "oh, you're from earlier."
"Yes, we were just dropping in to see how you're doing." the mad scientist cut in, "wanted to know if you'd need any help."
"Actually, you were quite a bit of help."
"What'd we do?"
"You asked me not to tell you."
"Alright, well," Ludwig said, "we'd better let you get back to work. Good luck saving your father from almost certain death!"
"Thanks," Oleck said grimly. And we were gone again. It's odd. I would never have guessed the cruel, heartless Ludwig will be useful, let alone helpful. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out...
