Hey, it's Ben again. I'll probably be making a lot of posts here now, since Vanderdecken12 doesn't seem to be in the mood to post. We're all interested in seeing why he's not...dead, so I'll keep you up to speed. If you're wondering why I'm using VD12's account, it's just because it's easier than creating my own (triple-securing a blogger account is rather time consuming).
The embassy in China managed to get an escort with an American doctor out to Vanderdecken12, and they checked him into a hospital in Lanzhou. I arrived earlier today and walked in full of questions. I wasn't able to interrupt, however, as he was talking to the doctor.
"It would appear you survived the nuclear blast due to the preservative in the giant cookie you consumed a few months ago."
"The giant cookie..." said Vanderdecken12, alive and well, as if nothing ever happened nodded.
"Yes, and the preservative chemicals in the cookie have manifested in your cells, literally putting you in a state of preservation. It's, it's...extraordinary. But I can't medically explain any of it."
I decided to break in, "So what happened? The blast threw him all the way to China?"
"It would appear so," the doctor nodded
"Oh, hi Ben." VD12 broke in.
"Multiple scientists," the doctor continued, "have been trying to calculate what would happen to a person at ground zero of a nuclear weapon if they weren't crushed or incinerated. From every study, every simulation, every analysis, every calculation, it appears, Vanderdecken12, that you momentarily managed to exceed the speed of light."
"Impossible!" I cried out.
"Yes it is," Aleck said, exchanging a knowing glance with VD12, "for a nuclear weapon."
"Quite impossible," the doctor agreed.
"Fascinating," Vanderdecken said calmly, "so what's your prognosis, doctor? How long do I have to live?"
"Have to live?!?" I asked in surprise.
"Well, naturally," the doctor said, "or at least I suppose, I mean, it can only be assumed, that nothing which is put into a 'preserved' state can survive for long. It's a wonder that he's still alive now, but it must be assumed that Vanderdecken12's life has been greatly shortened."
"So how long does he have?" I prodded anxiously.
"How should I know?" the doctor threw his hands up in anguish, "Maybe years. Maybe weeks. Maybe days! You could survive until twenty-twelve, or you could die tomorrow. I suppose we'll be able to give a more accurate prediction when more tests get back, but there's no knowing how long you have. But in the mean time..."
VD12 looked up curiously, "In the mean time?"
"In the mean time, you are invincible."
