"What is this? Some puzzle?" I asked.
"Like all those childrens' books." Vander laughed.
Aleck read the note...
"In five minutes, eight men will appear. They are all armed with futuristic, experimental weapons that are known to kill. Hopefully, Aleck will be able to knock them out because it is imperative that they are alive. Make sure Ben is kept away for his own safety. And, oh no, you may want to call an ambulance. I might not come in optimal condition. That's no puzzle."
And just then, we saw them start to materialize. I grabbed my laptop from off the floor and jumped behind the door, out of sight. Aleck, fast as ever, ran behind the direction they were materializing. "Cause a distraction," I heard him say. There was silence for a moment, and then I heard one of them ask, "who are you."
"I, dear sirs, am your undoing."
I peeked from behind the door and saw eight slick men in business suits holding out strange, identical guns. They seemed to be about to shoot.
"I wouldn't, if I were you." VD12 laughed merrily, though he needs to work on his fake-laugh. Pretty bad. He pulled out a grenade, "this will blow up the entire room." He needs to work on his lying too.
There was a loud explosion and then the sound of futuristic weapons. Somewhat like Star Wars. The room filled with smoke. I heard a few 'ow's, and then all was quiet. As the smoke cleared, I counted the unconscious bodies.
"Nine!"
"Yes," Aleck nodded, "but Oleck was unconscious when they got here.
"Which one's Oleck?"
Vander laughed nervously, "The one who looks like he got ran over by a bus."
That one happened to be awakening.
"They...saw me."
"We noticed." VD12 said grimly.
"Have you called the authorities."
VD12 and Aleck both looked at me, "Well, I, um, haven't been able to clear our names yet."
Aleck said, "we can't even take these criminals in."
"Or at least once we do," Vander looked concernedly at him, "we'll lose contact with them." he considered for a moment, "Ben, call an ambulance."
"But," I began to protest.
"Do it, we can get Oleck back when he's healed."
And so I did. And now, with only 9 days left until an explosion, we have to take care of an injured Oleck. But right now I've got one thing in mind, one very important thing; hacking.
