I had a few things to ask him. My first concern was for my dying laptop, but I was dying from curiousity about that Oleck guy, "Aleck, have you ever gone back in time?"
"No, and neither have you." I ignored this.
"And if you did, would you ever change your name to Oleck?"
"Of course not. Oleck is not a good name. In fact, I had a grandfather to the eight generation whose name was Oleck. Many thought he was insane-," he began, but apparently connecting the word 'insane' to me, he stopped.
"I'm not insane." I pleaded.
"Don't worry, Vanderdecken12. You've been through a lot."
"I'm not insane." I insisted desperately, beginning to argue. But then an email popped up on my laptop, which has exactly fifteen minutes of juice left on it;
"you have ten minutes before I send you back to me." a sense of urgency filled me. I knew very well that I could not fare well in the past, and that I needed serious help, but taking Aleck back with me, though perhaps possible, would be against Ludwig's wishes, which would be bad, very bad.
"Listen Aleck, " I swallowed, and my voice became stern, "I need a hand generator and a solar generator for my laptop, and I need them in less than ten minutes."
"What are you talking about?" he asked in annoyance.
"I'm going back in time again, and I need my to be able to charge my laptop. You have them in your bag-of-tricks, right?" that was a bag he carried around whenever he could, which contained a bunch of seemingly-random objects.
"Vanderdecken12, you're not aloud out of this building."
"Fine, I will not take one step out of this building." my sincerity led him to concede, and he handed me the generators, "Listen Aleck, I know you don't believe me now, but you will," I glanced at the clock on the wall, "in five minutes you'll have proof, so please pay attention. A mad scientist kidnapped Ben-yes, mad scientists still exist-and sent him to some place in the past, I don't know where, but it's between 1740 and 1795, because we aren't capable of going beyond that range. I don't know what Ludwig Einstein wants with me, but he plans on training Ben as an apprentice. Einstein has a base that he calls his 'secret lair'," I took a deep breathe and continued, "it has time-travelling equipment. I don't know what kind, but if you find it, you could discover something that will help me. It's buried deep underground, at least two miles. It's well hidden, so even you might not be able to find it for some time. You have any of those really long range radios that can conect to a computer?"
he pulled a pair out of his bag, and handed them to me, "I still think you've lost your mind, but I respect you too much to not give you a chance."
"Thank you, Aleck, " I paused, "I know I can count on you." And then the clock ticked 12:40, and nothing happend. Aleck looked almost disappointed, but then I was gone. Luckily, I'd changed into normal clothes the day before, but, naturally, I'm still quite weak from surgery. I'm just hoping Einstein doesn't send me to between the line of fire at the battle of Lexington or something ;)
