Meeting with Congress, 21st Century Style
The hearing will continue, and Aleck and I will be at it, but over a webcam. It has been moved to today, even though it is a Saturday, and it will start in about ten minutes. They've agreed to lighten our punishment for escaping if we log in. So, as we prepare to land and follow the bad guys on foot, I'm preparing my point that the cookie must be kept out of the hands of the people we're following. Aleck declined the offer to speak, so it'll be all me. He's more of the...quiet type. The outcome of this hearing really doesn't matter now, as far as I can tell. They'll just prohibit us from doing anything but destroying the cookie, and then everything will go on like normal after we've done the job. Aleck's said very little about the cookie, or about the moral consequences of it and of our actions. He's very...business-oriented. He knew the cookie needed to be kept out of enemy's hands, and in ours. Once he was told that it couldn't be in our hands, it mattered very little to him, as long as it still wasn't in their hands. Now, not a word has come out of his mouth about our brilliant escape the other night, just....business...
