Gone

The message came on Wednesday. Vanderdecken12 had collapsed and all vital functions had ceased. I sat gazing at the email in disbelief.
"You knew it was coming." Ludwig Einstein stood at the door.
"I just can't imagine life without him."
He rolled his eyes, "what was I thinking?"
"What?"
"I messed up the future. It needs fixing."
"But I thought time couldn't be changed!" I objected.
"Yes well, so did I." he replied haughtily, "until I found a new way of travelling. And now it's all messed up."
"So....what do I have to do with this?"
"You're the only one who can fix this."
I thought back to what Oleck had said, "Well then, I guess I don't have much of a choice."
I half-expected him to insist that I did, and that it was truly up to me, but he just nodded, "but first, we've got to go see Vanderdecken."
"Why?"
His only answer was an ominous, "you'll see."
