Making a Run For It
We left Eblangakata and followed the bad guys all the way to Kisangani. They stayed in a hotel for a whole 24 hours without leaving, and then, at 9 AM, +2 GMT, they took off, driving faster than they'd ever driven before. We started following them, but just seconds after we started moving, we got a call from a Congressional committee summoning us to a hearing to discuss the usefulness and Constitutionality of the cookie. "The committee," they said, "will decide upon whether or not this cookie ought to be pursued in the first place. We must decide if this cookie will not actually harm this nation, rather than help it..." so on and so forth. HUNGRY's at work here. Luther, who we've been holding prisoner this entire time, has suddenly taken on a smug look. Clearly, he expected something like this to happen the entire time. And now there is nothing we can do. Aleck and I are under heavy guard by troops, and we are to board a plane back to Washington within the next 72 hours. I, I don't know what to say. Maybe it's just as well. Maybe HUNGRY's right. But I can't be sure. And I keep remembering what Luther said about the bad guys maybe not even wanting to eat the cookie. What could they want it for, if not to eat? I have to find out. Maybe if I do, I can still destroy the cookie. That way nobody gets it. But Ben, I can't do that if I'm in America. Any ideas?
