Snow Way

The three of us emerged into what could have been described as a winter wonderland. Could have been, because in spite of the white, untouched snow reflecting the sun on a clear, cloudless afternoon in 2026, the area had a feeling of desolation about it. Rusted skilifts ran up to an empty mountain, many of them toppled over from disuse.
"See all this, Ben?" Peter waved his arm toward the mountain, "It was all banned when Gregory took office. And then converted for government use."
I shrugged, not getting the point.
"Power corrupts, Ben. Power always corrupts."
"But what about all the good they've done?"
"Lies. The reports were fabricated. All of them. People need to make their own decisions, Ben. The government can't make them for us."
He didn't have time to say anything else, though. Jordan, who had been guarding the time-portal staggered toward us. "They've arrived," he gasped before falling to the ground. We were off again.
